Post Matric As far back as 1875, St Andrew’s College prepared young men for their entrance into tertiary education. Today, many matriculants find that a further year after Grade 12 helps to prepare them for University in a structured, familiar and secure environment. The Post-Matric year at St Andrew’s College is designed for such students, those who are still undecided on their career paths, those who have matriculated relatively young, or those who are still able to grow in a school environment with added academic challenges. Post Matric students study academic courses offered through the University of South Africa (UNISA). They have the advantage of Rhodes University and of tutoring by staff of the University and our own staff. In addition, the School has designed its own ancillary courses which are intended to give more depth to maturing personalities. These include Information Technology certification, a Toastmasters’ course, a leadership course, study methods and a range of enriching team-building, sporting and cultural activities. The Post-Matric year is challenging, but the small number of students who are admitted to the course have the support of a caring staff and specially selected peers while they mature to adulthood and establish a clearer direction for their continued tertiary study. |
